Un álbum en el que Anni suena más honda y cálida, con mucha más atmósfera, también más relajada y segura de sí misma. Sus canciones íntimas crecen desde el dream folk hasta el rock, visitando intrincados paisajes sonoros que coquetean con la electrónica, donde Anni saca a pasear monstruos que surgieron durante estos tres años de intensas giras por todo el mundo, en los momentos taciturnos de soledad, donde el paso del tiempo se hace más presente, demostrando que los temas complejos se le dan tan bien como otros cuyo mayor encanto es precisamente su sencillez. Anni B Sweet is the stage name of Ana López Rodríguez (Málaga, 1988), indie and folk singer-songwriter.
López has been composing songs since the age of seven and in her teenage years performed in a number of bands with her friends. In 2007 Anni started to perform as a solo artist and word of her spread amongst music fans through MySpace. In 2008 she was signed by Subterfuge Records, Spain's biggest independent label, with whom she released her debut album Start, Restart, Undo the following year. Anni was offered the chance to perform at the Festival Internacional de Benicàssim in 2009 before having released her album. This was followed up by a massive tour of Spain and several other countries. In October 2009, Anni's acoustic cover version of Take On Me, by A-Ha was used on a television advert for a major fast food chain. She was also voted Artist Sensation of 2009 by El País online. La cantautora folk-pop Ana López (Málaga, 1988) ha venido sumando sin cesar afiliados a su club de fans desde que colgara algunas (grandes) canciones en MySpace, y ahora que tiene disco oficial su fama solo debería estallar del todo. Anni B Sweet viene a sumarse a esa pequeña nómina de artistas indies nacionales cuya música puede llegar, afectar, a un público amplio, indie y no indie. ¿Quién se resiste a esas melodías o esa voz cristalina capaz de romperte y reconstruirte al mismo tiempo? Si todavía queda justicia poética en el mundo, o algo de buen gusto en España, “Start, Restart, Undo” debería ser un éxito.
Ana-Anni inventa canciones desde los 7 años, y eso se nota. En el principio fueron improvisaciones a capella desde el asiento trasero del coche de su padre; bosquejos de canción inspirados por lo que veía o sentía en ese momento. También se le daba bien hacer freestyle pop sobre los samples de un órgano de juguete. Llegarían después los primeros grupos: uno de versiones, otro más serio y de rock’n’roll, o aquel dúo con un amigo bajo la briosa influencia de Belle and Sebastian. Y al final del camino –o el brillante principio, según se mire– sus canciones en solitario, su versión personal e intensa del legado de Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Kate Bush o Cat Power. Ya en Madrid grabó una maqueta con Brian Hunt (Templeton, Half Foot Outside) y Javier Doria (The Melocotons) y el resto vino solo: éxito total en MySpace, victoria en el concurso de maquetas de Arindelle Records y EGO, número uno de las mejores maquetas del 2008 para la revista Mondo Sonoro, shows abarrotados, una invitación para telonear a Antonio Vega o, at last but not least, su condición de fichaje estrella del FIB… sin disco en la calle.
El porvenir de esta chica debería ser dulce, como su apellido artístico o las canciones de ese primer disco tan poco primerizo. “Iniciar, reiniciar, deshacer”, dice el título. Por supuesto. El caso es no conformarse, sino pelear –suavemente– por la vida o la música que uno desea. Y así surgen canciones como estas doce primeras de Anni B. Sweet, de apariencia sencilla pero arreglos trabajados, instrumentación riquísima y malabarismos sonoros; Brian Hunt vuelve a lucirse en la producción como ya hizo en la maqueta. Por momentos deja uno de pensar en el canon folk clásico para hacer comparaciones con Micachu, St. Vincent y otras chicas traviesas del (art-) pop moderno. Son canciones dulces pero menos, porque en esas melodías de parque en primavera puede haber espacio para preguntas difíciles; dudas sobre sentimientos de uno mismo y del otro, angustias cotidianas, traumas latentes. Canta Anni en “Mr. D”: “Supongo que tengo que coger mi guitarra una vez más / y cantar mis últimos pensamientos sobre nuestro amor imposible”. Lo canta en inglés convincente –estudio en un colegio británico–, como todo el disco, salvando “Tumbado en mi moqueta azul”, la única canción no compuesta por ella.
Al final suele haber un rayo de sol colándose por la ventana: ella olvida, perdona y gana. Y todos ganamos escuchándola. El viento se serena, las nubes se quedan en leve adorno y el invierno acaba de una vez. Gracias. Juan Manuel Freire 
 About Anni B Sweet
Anni B Sweet, a folk singer songwriter since the age of seven from Malaga, Spain had an astonishing 2009.  It was the year she signed to Subterfuge Records, the biggest indie label in Spain and played at Benicàssim Festival and abroad without even having an album out.  She was also voted Sensation of the Year by readers of El País online (Spain’s biggest newspaper) and was nominated for a number of prestigious music awards.  Her debut album Start, Restart, Undo, (Subterfuge Records 2009) was critically acclaimed by the press and is considered as one of the best indie albums of the year by both the media and music fans. You will notice when you listen to her songs that she sings in perfect English; this is because she was educated at British schools.  An advertising executive fell in love with Anni’s beautiful crystalline voice and decided that he wanted to use her acoustic version of Take On Me on a TV advert for a well known fast food chain.  The single of this song made the Top 40 in digital downloads and the video at the moment is quickly becoming an internet phenomenon.
Artists who have achieved what she has in such little time are very few and it is hard to believe that only nine months ago she was almost unknown. Anni is an amazing talent and to have the privilege to see her performing live is an opportunity not to be missed. Now that she has conquered Spain, in 2010 the world awaits her…
