Editorial Reviews:
¤ Camera Obscura recorded their 5th album Desire Lines in December of 2012 when they decamped to Portland to work with GRAMMY nominated producer Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Spoon, My Morning Jacket) and pleased with the progress they made there, they returned a month later to finish it. "Working in the US with southern gentleman Tucker Martine was a positive experience. We were also delighted to have Neko Case and Jim James sing on the record too. What a treat."
¤ After nearly four years without so much as a peep, Glasgow’s Camera Obscura will release their new album, Desire Lines, via 4AD on June 3rd in the UK and June 4th in North America.
¤ The indie-pop’s fifth full-length and followup to 2009′s excellent My Maudlin Career will feature appearances by My Morning Jacket‘s Jim James and Neko Case. According to a press release, it was recorded in Portland last December with producer Tucker Martine (Spoon, Laura Veirs, R.E.M.)
¤ Tracyanne Campbell said of the recording process: “Of all our records this was pretty much the most challenging to write, partly because of the situation we found ourselves in with having to take such a long and uncertain amount of time out, but also because it would be record number five and we were getting harder and harder to please.”
¤ In support of the release, Camera Obscura have lined up a long list of tour dates that span the next several months. The band will play a handful of shows supporting She & Him and will make several festival appearances.
