Lil Skies — Life Of A Dark Rose (Jan 10, 2018)
♣••♣ It seems over the past few months Lil Skies has been making bigger waves. He’s become a rising force in the underground and if I’m being honest, I feel like 2018 is about to big a major year for him. To kick the year off on a right note, he comes through with his latest album, Life Of A Dark Rose. Lil Skies comes through with his latest project Life Of A Dark Rose today. It’s a statement for Skies as he handles the majority of the project on his own with the exception of Landon Cube’s two appearances on the previously released “Nowadays” and “Red Roses.” Skies flexes every aspect of his artistry from the bars to his penchant for melodies.
♣••♣ With a new project from Skies to kick off 2018, keep your eyes peeled for him. He’s bound to make an impact in the rap game this year. (Aron A., https://www.hotnewhiphop.com/)
EDITORS’ NOTES
♣••♣ On “Welcome to the Rodeo,” the elastic intro to Life of a Dark Rose, Lil Skies proclaims that he’d tattooed his face to keep himself committed to music. The Pennsylvania native’s faith paid off before he was old enough to drink — his “Red Roses” was one of 2017’s biggest underdog success stories. That song, while melodic and ethereal, betrays the impressive lyrical precision that Skies packs into much of Life of a Dark Rose. He’s a dynamic vocalist and wordsmith, just as prepared to ride the emo guitar line of “Cloudy Skies” as he is to rattle off complex couplets over spacey chimes on “Signs of Jealousy.”

About Lil Skies
•• Rapper Lil Skies was born Kimetrius Foose in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania in 1998. Interested in music from his early childhood, Foose was recording and writing lyrics by the time he was 12 and eventually took on the Lil Skies moniker when he began taking his music more seriously. When he was enrolled in Shippensburg University, he dropped out to focus on music as his fan base grew exponentially. By this time he was performing regularly, even opening for rap sensations like Fetty Wap, among others. He released several singles and videos, notably “Signs of Jealousy,” which caught the attention of Atlantic Records. The major label offered Lil Skies a deal in 2017. ~ Fred Thomas
