♣ The story behind Restless Heart comes from the writing of music in the small hours of the morning when the world is asleep. Being awakened by an owl night after night, she writes a song of love and longing for this owl as well of for all of those who are waiting for love to fly to them. This collection of songs range from slow and pensive to upbeat and jazzy to rock and roll. A mix of genres, Restless Heart rocks and swings as well as soothes the soul. Lyrics come from the heart and the band gives the soulful sound Mary is known for a whole new vibe!!!
♣ There are thoughts that come deep in the night when the world is asleep. The night sounds surround my little home and in the small hours of the night I am awakened by the song of an owl. This happens for many days until one morning I wake up and with no hope of sleep remaining...I write. A pot of coffee and a notebook of crumpled pages later Restless Heart came to light long after the sun had risen. I believe this owl sings in hope of finding his lost love.
♣ Restless Heart is for my owl, my muse, and all of those looking for love or hoping that love will fly to them.
Bio:
♣ Born on Long Island, Mary Ann started playing music at a young age with a strong jazz and blues influences learned from her uncle who taught her how to play guitar. She then started playing in the college coffeehouse scene on Long Island and through most of New York State and Colorado as a solo performer and as a vocalist in a number of small bands. She had the privilege of opening for Harry Chapin on a few occasions in the 70s, and traveled across the country, paying her way by busking in bus stations and playing in dusty dives. After an almost thirty year hiatus, she has started writing and performing again and has shared the stage with many talented musicians. She lives in Northern New York on the Canadian border. Since stepping back on stage, she has played in a number of concert venues throughout the Adirondacks & northern regions of the state, and has received local public radio, as well as national and international air time with the release of her new album Running Out of Time in February 2014.
♣ She is now in the process of writing and working on her newest project ~ Restless Heart ~ to be released in 2016.
♣ From sultry blues, to folk and Americana, always soulful, this eclectic performer always delivers a true, honest, performance. Sure to please.
