≈ The Norwegian singer–songwriter Randi Tytingvåg has the power to light up audiences with her music. It is feel–good music in the best sense of the term, with oodles of charm. “Three” is her debut on the Emotion label, which presents styles of music outside jazz under the ACT banner. Tytingvåg’s ingredients for her music are many and varied. On her latest album she highlights in particular her singer–songwriter qualities and draws from the roots of American folk and country music.
Bio:
≈ Randi Tytingvåg is a Norwegian singer and songwriter with roots in the jazz genre. She is known for her great, characteristic voice and for her way of communicating with the audience. Her compositions and lyrics have integrity and underline her talent for storytelling. The compositions are a crossover between the different genres she herself has been influenced by; jazz, the singer/songwriter tradition, folk, country and chamber music. Her voice carries a dualistic mix; strong and fragile at the same time. ≈ She finished her jazz studies in London in 2001. She made her debut as a jazz singer the same year at the Maijazz festival. In 2004 she was announced to be ”The artist of the year” in her hometown Stavanger. In 2006 Randi made her debut as an actress at Rogaland Teater in the music drama ”Skyfri himmel”, by Bjørn Eidsvåg and Olaug Nilssen. She has released four solo albums and two eps : Heavenly Attack — 2004 (Via Music) Beyond Surface — 2004 (ep, Via Music) Let Go — 2006 (RTM/Mudi). Releaunched in Germany in 2010.
≈ RED — 2009 (Ozella Music)
≈ Grounding — 2012 (Ozella Music)
≈ Lights Out — 2013 (Ozella Music)
Randi worked in a new play at Rogaland Teater in the fall of 2011: ”MOR: Eg konne vel tenkt meg å gå heile Den kinesiske mur ”, written by Rønnaug Kleiva. The play also starred the wonderfdul actress Sally Nilsson. It was based on songs from the albums ”Let Go” and ”RED." In 2012 Randi received the Prins Eugens Kulturpris in Sweden.
