Tindersticks — Philharmonie De Paris (10th february 2015)
Zní to krásně. ... A Stuart Berman mu dává 8.0. Koncertní album “Philharmonie De Paris” Tindersticks sestavili z 12–ti písní v délce od 2:44 (‘Come Feel The Sun’) k nejdelší — poslední ‘My Oblivion’ (7:05), přičemž 5 z nich je přes 5 minut. Skupina vybrala z debutového alba píseň ‘Drunk Tank’, ze sedmého alba ‘The Hungry Saw’ písně ‘The Other Side Of The World’ a ‘Boobar Come Back To Me’. Píseň ‘Factory Girls’ z osmého alba ‘Falling Down a Mountain’. Dále, písně ‘A Night So Still’ a ‘Medicine’ z devátého alba ‘The Something Rain’. Nejúchvatnější je úvodní ‘Keep You Beautiful’, celý obsah a závěr, myslím to bez ironie. Elegantní a vřelé melodie jsou stále živé. Závěrečná ‘My Oblivion’ s bohatými a citlivě zakomponovanými smyčci (Robert Spriggs, violoncelle, Calina De La Mar, violon, Lucy Wilkins, violon, Andrew Nice, violoncelle, bois) je nádhernou tečkou za tímto superalbem. Bohatě atmosférické a nádherné písničky od 11–ti skladatelů, které nám pomáhají zaplnit prázdnotu skořápkového světa. / Limited edition live lp and cd available at all forthcoming concerts €20 /€15. it sounds lovely…

Musical style:
Ξ Their sound is characterised by orchestral backing, lounge jazz, and soul; the orchestrations of multi–instrumentalist Dickon Hinchliffe (who left the band in 2006) and the baritone of lead vocalist Stuart A. Staples are the band’s hallmarks. • Tindersticks augment their instrumentation with Rhodes piano, glockenspiel, vibraphone, violin, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, bassoon, Hammond organ, and many more.
Notes:
Ξ We feel the need to say something after this weekend in Berlin.
tindersticks have a long and cherished history with the Volksbuhne Theatre and we chose this venue as the ideal place to present the Waiting Room film concert in Berlin.
Ξ Unfortunately, we were not informed of the dramatic re–configuration of the space and conditions our audience would have to deal with (sitting on concrete)
Ξ Added to this, technical issues at the venue on Saturday meant that the concert was delayed by over an hour and ultimately the way that we intended to present the two sets was compromised.
Ξ It was actually one of the most difficult and painful days in the bands history. We are extremely proud of everyone in our organisation that we were even able to play a concert that night, let alone in such style.
Ξ For all of you who attended, we hope our love and excitement for our new album (and films) and our joyous reconnection with our back catalogue transcended these problems.
Ξ We are planning a return to Berlin later in the year and we are close to confirming the most beautiful place for your eyes (and the softest seats for your bottoms). There will be an announcement very soon.
Until then…
with love, tindersticks
