Tracey Thorn — SOLO: Songs and Collaborations 1982 — 2015
≡♠ Zpívala s vřelostí a emocionální poctivostí, zatímco neustále bojovala s akutní trémou, vrozenou zranitelností a dysfonií *, kterou trpěly i písničkářky Shirley Collins a Linda Thompson. Thorn drtí naše vžité představy o tom, co dělá dobrá zpěvačka. A že i na tzv. Západě se dějí negativní kuriozity, dosvědčuje fakt, že její fantastické debutové album ‘A Distant Shore’, nahrané u Pata Berminghama za pouhých £138, NEBYLO NIKDY OFICIÁLNĚ OCENĚNO. Pouze UK Indie Chart mu v r. 1983 dává #2. A new double album documenting Tracey’s solo career outside of Everything But The Girl and the Marine Girls is released on October 23 2015. Entitled “Solo: Songs and Collaborations, 1982–2015” it covers her work from her solo debut ‘A Distant Shore’ to her recent soundtrack album for Carol Morley’s film ‘The Falling’ and includes her performances with Massive Attack, Working Week and The Style Council.

Tracey Thorn: Naked at The Albert Hall
Virago, RRP £16.99, 256 pages
≡♠ Tracey Thorn, musician and author of the best–selling autobiography Bedsit Disco Queen, offers a unique insider’s take on the art of singing: why and how we sing, and the voice’s power to captivate
≡♠ In her best–selling autobiography Bedsit Disco Queen, Tracey Thorn recalled the highs and lows of a thirty–year career in pop music. But with the touring, recording and extraordinary anecdotes, there wasn’t time for an in–depth look at what she actually did for all those years: sing. She sang with warmth and emotional honesty, sometimes while battling acute stage–fright.
≡♠ Part memoir, part wide–ranging exploration of the art, mechanics and spellbinding power of singing, Naked at the Albert Hall takes in Dusty Springfield, Dennis Potter and George Eliot; Auto–tune, the microphone and stage presence; The Streets and The X Factor. Including interviews with fellow artists such as Alison Moyet, Romy Madley–Croft and Green Gartside of Scritti Politti, and portraits of singers in fiction as well as Tracey’s real–life experiences, it offers a unique, witty and sharply observed insider’s perspective on the exhilarating joy and occasional heartache of singing.
≡♠ Tracey Thorn was singer and songwriter with Everything But the Girl from 1982–2000. At that point she semi–retired from the music business to bring up her children. She has since recorded three solo albums, Out of the Woods, Love and Its Opposite, and Tinsel and Lights, and published her autobiography, Bedsit Disco Queen.
