Vítězné album hodnotil pan Craig Jenkins známkou 9.3 [19. března 2015] s tímto headlinem: “The dense and complex follow–up to good kid, m.A.A.d city is wry, theatrical, chaotic, ironic, and mournful, often all at once.” Jen něco málo měsíc po jeho vydání se vyjádřilo svým vlastním verdiktem 5 žurnalistů: Kyla Marshell, Ben Beaumont–Thomas, Ben Westhoff, Tshepo Mokoena a Lanre Bakare.
