Bob Mundy — Something Beautiful
•••• S celou škálou prostředků zachází s úctou, dále u něj spatřuji elegantní pružnost, dokáže syntetizovat dvě skladby do jedné, resuscitovat písně pohřbené ve světě kolektivního vědomí.

ΕΠSinger/actor/Rehab therapist Bob Mundy launches his first CD backed by a quintet of superb jazz musicians, Something Beautiful, in which he looks at love through a Hall of Mirrors. He has classical training in music and theater, possesses a 4 octave vocal range, and has that inimitable ability to make contact with his audience. ΕΠHis smooth and sophisticated stylings reflect romance in all its infinite variety and power, from the wonder and mystery of “Laura,” to the dreamy ruminations of the classic, “East of the Sun” to the wry cynicism of “Diamonds are Forever”. In this debut album of love and longing, Mundy moves through the looking glass to unlock a world of pure imagination. His message is simple yet timeless. Connect. Only Connect!

•• Classy and elegant, Bob Mundy's debut album Something Beautiful is the quintessential expression of romantic swing. The bluesy shades of his vocals range from the soothing phrasing of “Lovesong” to the upbeat bossa nova–tinged “Voler la Nuit.” Mundy’s command of the French language in the latter gives the track a natural feel, brandishing a fluid and impassioned voicing.
•• The rise and fall of his vocals along “Ordinary People” moves to its own rhythm, diverging from the light sprinkling of Dan Kaufman’s piano keys showering the track in a delicate mist. The romantic musings of “Isn’t This Better” are cradled securely in Mundy’s vocals as Lage Lund’s guitar chords infuse a glint of serenity in the arrangement. The tango rhythm of “Besame Mucho” is accented by the Latin tone of Dominick Farinacci's trumpet and the Brazilian tint of Kaufman’s keys, projecting a samba club atmosphere.
•• The bluesy temperament of “Two for the Road” pervades a dreamy swing vibe which Mundy applies to novelty tunes like “East of the Sun” and “I’ll Be Seeing You,” treating them with reverence for the jazz form. His rendition of “Pure Imagination” has a swanky suppleness which turns reflective and tender in the melody “Something Good/Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful,” synthesizing two songs into one.
•• An album of songs buried in the world’s collective consciousness, Mundy exhumes melodies that have been long forgotten and others which are eminently familiar. Mundy ensconces himself in the romantic swing medium, putting his own spin on novelty tunes while keeping true to their original formation. :: http://www.seattlepi.com/

•• “Bob, I love your voice. Such a beautiful record! Many congratulations!” Betty Buckley — Tony Award Winner
•• “Wow! Just wow! Never before was an album so aptly titled. What a great choice of material and what fantastic arrangements. And, Bob, that voice? Where have you been hiding it all these years? Glad the world is about to find out just how talented you are. Congratulations! And I can hardly wait for the release.” Patrick Pacheco — NY Times / NY 1
•• “This is simply gorgeous, exciting stuff!!! And I love the wide range of moods and especially how you feather some notes…and stay in tune all the time (that in itself is a bonus). This is not just singing, this is a gifted artist at work sharing his eloquent gifts with the world!” — Ken Malucelli: Owner, Prince/SF Productions Artist Mgmt & Rep
•• “Don’t you hate it when you drop into a hotel bar for a drink and the piano player is more annoying than entertaining? “A male jazz vocalist that understands the difference between background, cabaret, jazz and rest of the styles people tend to lump together, he’s here to entertain and he does it in fine style. A tasty, inviting set throughout, Mundy is a wonderful find. First class all the way.” — CHRIS SPECTOR, Editor and Publisher — MIDWEST RECORD
•• “This debut album is the fruition of a lifelong dream. The title was chosen from the Medley: Something Good/Do I love you because you’re beautiful but that simple choice turned out to be extremely prophetic and what happened when all of us got into the studio was truly “Something Beautiful”. I dedicate this album to my parents, Maria & Bob, who nurtured my desire to study music from a very early age. My Dad would have loved it as I know my Mom will. I hope you love it as well. I give it to the world as an offering of love to add to the collective consciousness in the hopes that one day, it will be the prevailing emotion on the planet!” — Bob Mundy
•• New York born and bred, Bob has performed on stages around the world as a singer and an actor. His debut album titled "Something Beautiful" is the fruition of a lifelong dream. The title was chosen from the Medley: Something Good/Do I love you because you’re beautiful but that simple choice turned out to be extremely prophetic and what happened when all of us got into the studio was truly “Something Beautiful”. •• It is a collection of some of the world’s most incredible songs as performed by some of New York Cities finest Jazz Musicians. Bob is deeply humbled by the responses he receives from his singing and is thrilled to be able to move people emotionally. In the times we are living in, it’s important that people are able to connect with their emotions as modern technology takes so much of that away. I give it to the world as an offering of love to add to the collective consciousness in the hopes that one day, it will be the prevailing emotion on the planet! As Bob says: “Dreams do come true if you stick around long enough. Take it from me who’s on the 50 year overnight success plan”!
