♦ This collection of ten sets of lyrics, set to achingly beautiful melodies accompanied by a lively ensemble of guitar, bass and percussion, is Draper’s best album yet. Not one to pussyfoot around, she sings of the ills of today’s world, the pain of love, rejection, the uphill battle it takes to survive, the tragedy of misunderstanding. At the same time, there is a strand of hope that runs through these songs as she calls you not to be a victim, but to “keep your head up” and to “remember to put love in all that you do” so by the end of the album, when she sings “the star is the needle, the light the thread, use that to patch up your heart again, make it as good as new,” the listener is filled with hope that our ills can be healed. (By Baleine)

♦ WHILE GROWING UP IN A MUSICAL HOUSEHOLD WITH PARENTS AND SIBLINGS WHO ARE ALL MUSICIANS (HER FATHER IS A CLASSICAL GUITAR VIRTUOSO WHO STUDIED WITH ANDRES SEGOVIA), BROOKLYN BASED LINDA DRAPER LISTENED TO EVERYTHING FROM BACH TO “BOP” FROM AN EARLY AGE, SOON MOVING ON TO THE CHURCH CHOIR AND THEN TO WRITING HER OWN SONGS AND PLAYING GUITAR AS A TEENAGER.
♦ IN 2001 DRAPER RECORDED HER DEBUT LP “RICOCHET” WITH PRODUCER/INDIE MUSIC ICON KRAMER (LOW, GALAXIE 500). THEIR PARTNERSHIP CONTINUED WITH HER NEXT THREE LP’S. HER DEBUT LP ON PLANTING SEEDS RECORDS, “ONE TWO THREE FOUR” WAS MET WITH RAVE REVIEWS. IN 2007 SHE CO~PRODUCED HER NEXT LP “KEEPSAKE” WITH MAJOR MATT (OLIVE JUICE MUSIC). IN 2009, DRAPER RETURNED WITH HER SIXTH LP CALLED “BRIDGE AND TUNNEL”, PRODUCED BY BRAD ALBETTA (MARTHA WAINWRIGHT, TEDDY THOMPSON).
♦ LINDA’S PREVIOUS ALBUM, “EDGEWISE” PRODUCED BY SINGER~SONGWRITER MATT KEATING, WAS SELF~RELEASED IN 2013 AND WAS ALSO RELEASED ON VINYL (PLANTING SEEDS RECORDS). OF THE RECORD AMERICAN SONGWRITER SAID: “CHANNELING THE FINGER~PLUCKED FOLK MUSIC OF JONI MITCHELL AND NICK DRAKE, LINDA DRAPER GETS BACK TO HER ACOUSTIC ROOTS.” THE FIRST SINGLE ON THIS ALBUM, CALLED “HOLLOW” WAS FEATURED ON THE STARBUCKS IN~STORE PLAYLIST. M MUSIC AND MUSICIANS MAGAZINE PROCLAIMED: “WITH ALL OF THESE SONGS — POP~ROCK SPARKLERS INFORMED BY THE KIND OF EDGY COUNTRY AND CLEVER FOLK BELOVED BY NPR SUBSCRIBERS — MOVEMENT CARRIES RISK, BUT IT BEATS STAYING PUT.”
♦ AS HER CAREER AND MUSIC CATALOG DEMONSTRATE, “STAYING PUT” IS NOT SOMETHING LINDA DRAPER LIKES TO DO. HER MUSICAL PATH HAS LED TO TOURS THROUGHOUT THE US AND UK. SHE HAS PERFORMED IN FESTIVALS SUCH AS CMJ, FOLK ALLIANCE, CAMPFIRE (CAMBRIDGE, MA), THE ATHENS POPFEST (ATHENS, GA), AND SINGER SONGWRITER OF CAPE MAY, NJ. OVER THE YEARS, LINDA HAS OPENED FOR TEDDY THOMPSON, MELISSA FERRICK, LUKA BLOOM, DAN NAVARRO, AND AMY CORREIA.
♦ LINDA DRAPER’S EIGHTH ALBUM “MODERN DAY DECAY” OUT APRIL 29, 2016, WAS CROWD~FUNDED THROUGH PLEDGEMUSIC. THE ALBUM WAS RECORDED AT MISSION SOUND IN BROOKLYN, NY. LINDA’S PRODUCER MATT KEATING. INTRODUCED HER TO GRAMMY AWARD WINNING MIXING ENGINEER GEOFF SANOFF (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, GREEN DAY, CAT POWER) WHO ENDED UP MIXING “MODERN DAY DECAY” AT LITTLE STEVEN’S STUDIO, RENEGADE NATION IN NYC. OF THE NEW ALBUM LINDA SAYS, “THANKS TO THE BACKING SUPPORT FROM MY FANS, WE WERE ABLE TO RECORD THESE SONGS IN TWO TOP~NOTCH STUDIOS WITH A GREAT BAND (INCLUDING MATT KEATING ON KEYBOARDS AND 2ND GUITAR, ERIC PUENTE ON DRUMS AND JEFF EYRICH ON BASS). THE PRE~PRODUCTION REHEARSALS CAME IN VERY USEFUL. SINCE WE ONLY HAD 2 DAYS TO RECORD 10 SONGS IN THE STUDIO, THERE WAS NO TIME TO FOOL AROUND! ♦ THIS PROJECT WAS A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY AND I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT THAT HAS LED ME TO WHERE I AM TODAY.”
